The story takes us to the island of Crete during the rule of King Minos. Today, we’ll be going over the story of Icarus and his father, Daedalus, as we attempt to understand why the story has become so popular and what exactly it means. Where did the story of Icarus and his father take place? Icarus and Daedalus attempt to escape from Crete by means of wings that Daedalus built from feathers and wax. What was the story of Icarus and Daedalus? The traditional moral of the story is to beware ambition because risks can lead to unexpected consequences however, there are far more lessons to be learned from Icarus. ![]() Many people are familiar with the Greek legend of Icarus, a boy who flew on wings of feathers and wax. Both flying too high and too low – being overconfident as well as being too submissive and humble (flying too close to the sea, which would make the wax holding the wings together useless) – are bound to end in failure. That’s the main “moral”, if you really want one.
